A Rohingya Youth was Killed in Rathidaung Township

Arakan Watch, April 3, 2023:

A Rohingya youth was reportedly killed by members of Arakan Army (AA) for his refusal to pay taxes on his business.

Victim is identified as Sadiq, son of Nozir Ahmed, 28 from Aka Taung village of Rathedaung Township, Arakan State, Burma/Myanmar.

Source confirmed that the victim went out to shopping ing Ra Kon Taing (Rakhine) village at about 3pm of April 1, 2023 from which he never returned.

According to a family member in condition of anonymity, ” Sadiq went to sell goods in Rakhine village to earn money but he went missing.

Family members were waiting until midnight and then went out to search him around and finally found the dead body at around 4am of April 2, 2023.

During the time of recovery, victim’s head was cut off, while half of the body was buried at the bank of the stream in Rathhoontai Rakhine village.

A closed friend of the victim said, he was ordered to pay huge amount of ransom tax to Arakan Army (AA) to run his small business but he refused to pay.

As a result, he was reportedly chased by the members of AA and killed brutally, he further added.##
