Military Infantry increase in Maungdaw

Arakan Watch: March 27, 2023

Burmese Military regime is increasing fresh infantary battalion in Maundaw South of Arakan State, Burma/Myanmar with unknown agenda, said a closer person to military in condition of anonymity.

This increase is followed by the ceasefire with Arakan Army (AA) as the situation became flexible for military forces, he further added.

Currently, military forces are stationed at Inndin and Ahlaythant Kyaw of Maundaw South. Then, they are exchanging forces from Southern to Northern and Northern to Southern, while bringing more forces across Mayyu Hill range.

Almost entire movement of the military forces are found in Maungdaw, Buthidaung and Rathedaung townships, where mass genocidal operations were done against ethnic Rohingya population.

“We are in fear of serious situation which may kill remaining Rohingya,” said a local resident of Maungdaw.

Civilians are not safe in hands of both ceasefire groups and brutal military, where no one has any other alternative for their safety, he further said. ##
