Ethnic Rohingya population in Maungdaw District are passing sleepless lives as military forces are increased in the district of Arakan State, Burma/Myanmar, said a local resident who is closely working with authority, on condition of anonymity.
Since April 4, 2023, military are increasingly landing in Buthidaung and Maundaw Townships with full of arms and amunitions, he further described.
These forces are carried by navies. Before landing on the town, military block the roads and Civilians are not allowed to move.
According to an eye witness, who declined to mention his name for security reasons, the target of military personnel are very fearful and the move of them very frequent, particularly around the areas if Rohingya.
Currently, infantary battalion No. 551, 552, 564 and 565 are filled up double capacity of the soldiers. ##
