Rohingya Arakanese Groups call for urgent international action against Burmese Military

Several Burmese Rohingya (Arakanese) groups including a leading umbrella organisation known as Arakan Rohingya National Alliance (ARNA) has called an urgent international action against Burmese Military, while extending strongly condemnation to military regime’s airstrikes on civilian population, sources noted.

According to the press release of ARNA, Burmese military has increased air strikes targeting the civilian population committing serious war crimes under international law and domestic laws.The horrific attack on April 11, 2023 in Pa Zi Gyi village of Kanbalu Township in Sagaing Region was one of the worst attacks by the junta since military attempted coup killing about 165 people, including 27 women and 19 minors.

It has also denoted that junta jets dropped bombs and helicopters fired machine guns on more than 200 people gathered in the village for the inauguration ceremony of a local civilian administration office. The junta then launched a second round of aerial attacks on the village later the same day, as people were attempting to locate and identify the dead. ##
