On September 1, 2023, two prominent Burmese dissidents Mr Habib Rahman and Dr. Maung Zarni were catching up with Mr. Gill Boehringer, (jurist of Permanent People Tribunal on Myanmar in 2017- presenting Rohingya and Kachin & former dean of the law school at Australia’s Macquarie University).
They were having lunch togather at Patonga hotel and walk across Pearl beach, Woy Woy Lion Park, Central Coast of NSW..
Mr Habib has expressed that although the PPT tribunal handed down the guilty verdict unanimousy, some INGOs and individuals avoided, and still do, avoid the word- ‘genocide’ :-
(crimes against the Rohingya qualified as genocide because Myanmar had pursued “systematic policies of discrimination and physical elimination,” and “active denial of identity and culture” against them.”##
