Asia’s special envoy for Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mr. Sun Guoxing is visiting Bangladesh in a four day official visit from Monday, 24 April. Mr. Gouxiang is expected to discuss Rohingya issue with Bangladesh officials. After the operation of the armed Forces in Arakan State of Burma, China wants to know and understand Bangladesh’s position on that awkward incident.
Bangladesh Foreign Ministry officials told the the reporters on Monday that the envoy of Chinese Foreign Ministry will talk to Foreign Secretary, Shahidul Hoque at his office on Tuesday morning.Before that, he will talk to some senior officials of the ministry involved in the negotiating process with Burmese authority regarding Rohingya crisis.
It is theorized that in this tour, he wants to know Bangladesh’s attitude towards neighboring country Myanmar especially on the issue of Rohingya persecution. Bangladesh also wants to understand china’s attitude.
Bangladeshi officials said that Burma’s security forces have started hassle with separatists in Shaan province of Burma, which is in close proximity to China at the beginning of the Rohingya Torture in Arakan in October. Then some people fled to China from the state. Burma and China were in talks with the situation there when some people fled to China from the aforesaid province . Although Bangladesh has repeatedly requested Burma to discuss the Rohingya situation on the table, they do not answer Bangladesh.
In such a situation, the Chinese special envoy has been asked to go to Cox’s Bazar for a better understanding of the situation. When he talks to the Rohingyas in the peripheral district, he would be able to know better as why the people of Arakan state took shelter in Bangladesh. At the same time, he will get the opportunity to learn about the real situation in Arakan from them.
Inspite of having been tortured Rohingya for a long time, China has always kept silent about the issue. After the October attack on police posts in Arakan state last year, the United Nation Security Council(SC) wanted to make a statement to express their concern over the atrocities of Bumrmese security forces meted out upon the non-combatant Rohingya civillians. But the statement could not be made following the opposition of its two permanent members of SC, Russia and China.
On the other hand, the United Nations Human Rights Council has passed to send an international ‘Fact-finding mission’ last month to investigate the alleged atrocities on Muslim Rohingya in Arakan state of Burma when China as a member of SC did not participate in the process reiterating that Burma should provide more time to carry on its own investigation.
