The Burmese security force has raided three villages of Kuirkhali, Ronfara and Tetorborfara in North Buthidaung on 4 May 2017 and detained seven innocent Rohingya youth there.
According to our correspondent, a group of military from Nakhaindaung Army Battalion entered the Rohingya villages and conducted a raid where seven Rohingya youth were arrested by army personnels at around 4: pm, Thursday , May 4, 2017.
The arrested Rohingya youths were Mohamed Ayas (30) s/o. Bodi Alam, Fayazul Islam (18) s/o. Foyas Ahamed and Mohamed Ayas (23) s/o. Abu Taher of Tetorborpara, Nurul Amin (18) s/o. Nur Kabir, Alizuhar (12) s/o. Mohamed Sultan of Kuirkhali, Ata Ullah (33) s/o. Abdul Jalil, Mv Mohamed Ayas (30) s/o. Abdul Jalil of Ronfara, Buthidaung north.
The arrestee have been confined at the custody in army Battalion where they were tortured indiscriminately. Villagers reported to this correspondent that the victims have been arrested with the false allegation of ‘having link with militants and cooperating them’.
An eye witness said, 5 victims were being released in exchange of money. An amount of Kyat 500, 000 (100, 000 from each) from arrestees were to pay for their release. But the remaining two who were unable to pay money have yet to be freed, source said.
It is worthy to mention that the arbitrary arrest, raiding to villages and detention of innocent Rohingya civilians by Burmese security forces are daily phenomena in North-Western of Arakan. Such operations increased in manifold even after the declaration of the end of the so-called ‘Clearance Operation’ in western Arakan.
