A dinner party was held in Bay Pyi Taw on April 5, 2023 in marking the successful export of high-quality rice to Bangladesh, report the Global New Light of Myanmar.
Source noted that the country exported 100,000 tonnes of rice in 2017 for the first time, 100,000 tonnes in 2021 for the second time and 200,000 tonnes for the third time with the cooperation of the government and private organization, both Burma and Bangladesh signed a five-year agreement from 2022 to 2027 on rice trade.
The military Council provided export subsidies of K30 billion last year and K79 billion this year.
Currently, people of Burma are facing problems for adequate livelihood as the price of rice is being high up from Kyat 40,000 to 60,000 Kyat for 45 Kilograms of a Bag.
Rather giving priority to the survival of fellow people of Burma, military Council is busy to export the rice, said an activist on condition of anonymity.
Rather export and import development with Burma, all countries should follow the instructions of international community, particularly the United Nations in ending crisis in Burma he further added.
In addition to that the event was attended by Union Ministers Dr Kan Zaw, U Maung Maung Ohn, U Hla Moe and U Aung Naing Oo, Deputy Ministers U Kyaw Myo Htut, Daw Than Than Lin, Dr Aung Gyi and U Nyunt Aung, permanent secretaries, chairpersons of the Myanmar Rice Federation, Myanmar Rice Miller Association, Myanmar Rice and Paddy Traders Association, vice-chairpersons, executive members, entrepreneurs and invitees.
Then, Permanent Secretary Honorable Md Ismiel Hossail of the Ministry of Food of Bangladesh made a speech via the video clip and Myanmar Rice Federation Chairman U Ye Min Aung also remarked.
Afterwards, all attendees had dinner together. ##
