Arakan Army recaptured 2 AA escaped Rebels
Arakan Watch, April 25, 2023:
Arakan Army (AA) of Arakan State, Burma has managed to captured its 2 escaped members in Rathedaung Township, according to a community activist on condition of anonymity who is closely working with AA.
The 2 members ran away with arms and ammunition and the joined with Arakan Liberation Party (ALP). During this time, these 2 rebel members were arrested by Burmese Military and sentenced to imprisonment, he further said.
However, they were included in the amnesty of military’s prisoner release on the occasion of Thingyan Water Festival recently, he also described.
Upon their return, AA forces managed to bring them under control from which they again ran away on April 23, 2023 and hiding around but AA got information through local people and immediately surrounded and then made gun shot to recapture them on April 24, 2023 at about 10am local time, said another local who declined to mention his name for security reason.
A local Rakhine civilian said that AA attacked the public hospital area with gun, where he himself joined in surrounding together with full force and made several guns shots.
There may have some reasons behind this absconding of AA members. Due to security reasons I don’t want to disclose something more, he mentioned. ##
