The Arakan Army (AA) abducted a revered Rohingya leader in Maungdaw Township, marking yet another tragic episode of targeted violence against the Rohingya community. This alarming incident took place in Arakan State, Myanmar, and has sent shockwaves through the community in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh where many Rohingya now reside. The abduction of such a prominent figure underscores the ongoing human rights crisis faced by the Rohingya people.
The Arakan Army (AA) forcibly abducted a Rohingya teacher in Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, Myanmar. This respected educator, known for his dedication to his communities, was taken without any justification or explanation. His abduction highlights the continued oppression and targeting of the Rohingya people, leaving families and students devastated by his sudden disappearance.
A highly respected Rohingya teacher and renowned Islamic scholar from Kayin Den, Maungdaw Township, was forcibly abducted by the Arakan Army (AA) on August 24th, 2024 while he was chasing the truck for his safety during drone strike in Maungdaw. This individual, who had consistently excelled in his academic life, had been denied higher education opportunities due to the systemic racial discrimination against Rohingya in Myanmar. His abduction is yet another example of the Arakan Army’s ongoing campaign of terror against the Rohingya, as this teacher, known for his wisdom and leadership, is now missing without any reason provided by the Arakan Army.
AH Kamal, a beloved and accomplished Rohingya teacher originally from Bolibazar, served as a private tutor in Maungdaw, inspiring countless students through his dedication to education. He successfully passed his matriculation examinations with two distinctions in the 2003-2004 academic year from Kyein Chaung. His abduction by the Arakan Army has left the community in shock, as he was a pillar of hope and learning for Rohingya youth, offering them guidance in an environment marred by discrimination and persecution. His forced disappearance has left a profound void in the lives of his students and family.
