The prior government killed Rohingya with genocidal intent. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NUGMyanmar?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@NUGMyanmar<\/a> must commit to stopping the ethnic cleansing actions against Rohingya.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/EDW8Bza8Zq\">pic.twitter.com\/EDW8Bza8Zq<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ted Lieu (@tedlieu) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tedlieu\/status\/1390090205986578434?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 5, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe are confident that ending [the] murderous military regime will pave a way to finding sustainable solutions to the challenges we face related to effective protection and permissions of rights of ethnic, religious, and all other minorities and equality for all,\u201d Kyaw Moe Tun told the hearing.<\/p>\n<p>Kelley Currie, former ambassador at large for global women\u2019s issues, told the hearing that the US should support the NUG, but it should also help empower voices within the Myanmar government to do better on Rohingya rights.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Also read-\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhakatribune.com\/bangladesh\/rohingya-crisis\/2021\/04\/19\/appeal-for-rohingyas-to-be-included-in-myanmar-national-unity-government\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Appeal for Rohingyas to be included in Myanmar national unity government<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"ad-article-in-content-1\" class=\"advertisement-image\">\n<p>Specifically, Congressman Ben Sherman, a member of the host sub-committee \u2013 and his colleagues \u2013 wanted assurances that the NUG has a clearly defined policy of inclusion about Rohingya&#8217;s right to nationality and the restoration of equal and full citizenship.<\/p>\n<p>Once the military regime is over, he said, the NUG will be better positioned to address the issues \u201cin line with international norms and standards\u201d on human rights and humanitarian law. When the NUG makes way for a permanent government, there will be an inclusive dialogue to find ways to solve the problem, Kyaw Moe Tun said in defence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSee my questioning of Burma\/Myanmar dissent @UN Amb.
