REUTERS\/Simon Lewis<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"widget storyContent article widget-editable viziwyg-section-37 inpage-widget-29 article_lead_text\">\n<h5 class=\" print-only\">Bangladesh has summoned the Myanmar ambassador amid military build-up at the other side of the border in Rakhine State.<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"widget ad googlead widget-editable viziwyg-section-2 inpage-widget-1454364\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"floatingContent-right \">\u00a0The foreign ministry expressed concern over the development when Ambassador U Aung Kyaw Moe appeared on Sunday afternoon, said Delwar Hossain, the director general of the ministry\u2019s Myanmar Desk.<\/div>\n<div class=\"wrappingContent \">\n<div class=\"widget storyContent article widget-editable viziwyg-section-37 inpage-widget-21 article_body\">\n<div class=\"custombody print-only\">\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve asked him to convey the message to the proper authorities,\u201d Delwar said.<\/p>\n<p>Media have reported the suspicious movement of the Myanmar troops on fishing trawlers since early Friday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Residents in Bangladesh are concerned after noticing the presence of the soldiers on the other side of the border.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign ministry officials said the movement of troops may be part of Myanmar military\u2019s ongoing conflict with the Arakan Army, who seek greater autonomy for the region.<\/p>\n<p>One of the officials, requesting anonymity, said the government fears any further conflict at the border may trigger another exodus of Rohingya Muslims who live in Rakhine.<\/p>\n<div class=\"inside-article-ad-rectangle\"><\/div>\n<p>Bangladesh hosts more than 1 million Rohingya refugees, most of whom fled Myanmar in 2017 during a military operation dubbed ethnic cleansing in one of the fastest growing refugee crises in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Bangladesh has tried to send the refugees back to their homeland but they refuse to return until their security and rights are guaranteed in Myanmar.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said the foreign ministry also asked the ambassador to take steps for the repatriation of the Rohingya.<\/p>\n<p>Amid the refugee crisis, the Arakan Army, which recruits mostly from the Buddhist majority, bolstered the fight for greater autonomy for the western region.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, two Myanmar soldiers in statements made under the Arakan Army\u2019s custody confessed to Rohingya killings.<\/p>\n<p>The two soldiers were also reportedly transported to The Hague in the Netherlands, where they could appear as witnesses or face trial at the International Criminal Court.<\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/bdnews24.com\/bangladesh\/2020\/09\/13\/bangladesh-summons-myanmar-ambassador-over-military-movement-at-rakhine-border\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Myanmar border guard police officer stands guard in Taung Bazar village, Buthidaung township, northern Rakhine state, Myanmar.
