{"id":1453,"date":"2017-06-04T08:31:05","date_gmt":"2017-06-04T08:31:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/arakanwatch.org\/?p=1453"},"modified":"2017-06-04T08:31:05","modified_gmt":"2017-06-04T08:31:05","slug":"cops-rescue-rohingya-trafficking-victims-in-kl-kids-being-sold-for-rm1200","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/arakanwatch.org\/en\/cops-rescue-rohingya-trafficking-victims-in-kl-kids-being-sold-for-rm1200\/","title":{"rendered":"Cops rescue Rohingya trafficking victims in KL; kids being sold for RM1,200"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"article-meta\"><span class=\"author\">By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nst.com.my\/authors\/bernama\">Bernama<\/a><\/span><span class=\"separator\"> &#8211; <\/span><span class=\"post-date\">June 3, 2017 @ 10:29am<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\">\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR: Police rescued 11 Rohingya human trafficking victims \u2013 nine of them children \u2013 in a raid at a premises in Hang Kasturi here yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The victims, aged 10 to 20, were discovered in a confined space at the premises by a team from the Secret Societies, Anti-Vice and Gambling Division of the Dang Wangi police headquarters in the 11am operation.<\/p>\n<p>Police also detained six Myanmar nationals, men and women aged between 25 and 30, who are believed to be members of a syndicate which traffics in Rohingyas.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;(We) also seized five notebooks which had details on the sale of children, six handphones and RM12,000 in cash, believed to be ill-gotten money,&#8221; Dang Wangi deputy police chief Supt Habibi Majinji said in a press conference at the Dang Wangi police headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>He said from the notebooks, police believe six other victims had been sold off.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The suspects brought the victims from the north of the peninsula and kept them confined at the premises.
