Maungdaw, August 29, 2017: Since 28 August 2017, Burmese authorities forcibly expelling out the members and staffs of international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) from Maungdaw and Buthidaung Townships of Arakan State, Burma, said an official from Maungdaw.
Local eyewitness confirmed that most of the NGO employees departed from Sittwe, while taking 10 different speedboats, carried from 5 to 10 persons.
The State Counselor’s office issued a statement few days back that some of INGOs members were involved in violent preaching at Taung Bazar of Buthidaung locality.
Government authority accused that the INGOs were only helping the Muslim Rohingya minority in Maungdaw for decades who are arbitrarily branded as militant, even though the Rohingya are peace loving people who are completely defenseless and voiceless.
The Rohingya are identified by the United Nations as one of the most persecuted people in the world. ##
